Meditative Lent Walks 2026
Saturday Lent Walks
We will meet at each Church at 10.20am leaving promptly at 10.30am after short meditation/prayer and aim to be back at each Church by 12noon for a blessing and the opportunity to go on to the Lent Lunch of the host Church. All Walks are approximately 3 miles. We will be walking in a group and more specific directions for shorter routes can be given on the day (apart from Edmondsham).
Please be aware of current weather conditions and dress accordingly.
Thursday Lent Walks
Meeting time 10.30am
All walks are between 8 & 12 miles.
All walks require suitable clothing and picnic lunch.

Please let Jan (Rev Jan Brown) know in good time so we can discuss transport as they are not circular walks
Week 1
Thursday 19th February
The Wites Way.
Meet at village of Whitchurch Canonicorum at 10.30am.
It will be circular 8 mile route, walking up to Golden Cap.
Saturday 21st February
Meet at Cranborne Church.
Planned Route: Walk up Hardy Way as far as Jack’s Hedge Corner
Turn left onto jubilee trail to Cranborne Farm
Walk back along river Crane to Cranborne Church.
Difficulty: gentle incline. Most of walk is reasonably flat; trackway - might be muddy depending on weather.

Week 2
Thursday 26th February
St.Edward’s Way Part 1.
Meet at Wareham walking to Winterborne Kingston.
Saturday 28th February
Meet at Woodlands (Anglican) Church.
Planned route: Walk from Church turning onto footpath to Martin’s Farm. Turning right further along towards the golf club, walking around the golf club and back into the Church.
Difficulty: mild, flat possibly muddy.

Week 3
Thursday 5th March
St.Edward’s Way Part 2.
Meet at Winterborne Kingston Church and walking to Shillingstone.
Saturday 7th March
Meet at Edmonsham Church.
Planned route: Walk from Church passed houses to footpath, upward to join bridleway to Cranborne Castle. Continuing to Cranborne Castle and returning the same way.
Difficultly: There is a hill and no shorter route.

Week 4
Thursday 12th March
St.Edward’s Way Part 3.
Meet at Shillingstone walking to Shaftesbury Abbey.
Saturday 14th March
Meet at Gussage All Saints.
Planned route: Walk from Church towards Gussage St.Michael turning left onto footpath across Sovell Down into Gussage St.Michael. Walking along street towards Lower Farm and then following the track to by-way leading to Ackling Dyke. Then turning back along Roman Road towards Church.
Difficulty: There are hills.

Week 6
Thursday 19th March
The Dorset Cernunnos and Catherine Way Part 1 (Part 2 will take place after Easter).
Meet at Abbotsbury Church walking to West Compton.
Saturday 28th March
Meet at Wimborne St.Giles.
Planned route: Walk from Church across the road to go behind the school and join the road beyond the village hall. Proceed onto footpath passed Manor House to where it joins the Jubilee Trail at North Barn Farm. Follow to Manor Farm and turn left along bridleway up to Harley Down, turning left along Coach Road to All Hallows Farm and back along the road towards the Church.
Difficulty: There is a hill from Manor Farm to Harley Down.
