The Reverend Jan Brown was ordained as Deacon at Salisbury Cathedral on Sunday 29th June 2025. A huge crowd of parishioners and well-wishers witnessed and supported Jan on this happy day.

The Installation of Revd Angus Mayhew 12th March 2025
On 12thMarch 2025 in Cranborne Parish Church the Revd Angus Mayhew was Inducted as the new Rector of the Knowlton Circle Benefice. To put it formally for the record, Angus was the subject of The Institution, Induction, Installation or Collation Rite at which a Bishop commissions the ministry of a new incumbent and commits to him/her the “cure of souls” (spiritual care) of the parish.
The Bishop in question on this happy occasion was The Bishop of Sherborne, the Right Reverend Karen Gorham and Angus’ sponsors were Mrs Julia Smith, the Earl of Shaftesbury and Viscount Cranborne. The ceremony was extremely well attended by regular churchgoers, virtually all the clergy of the Deanery and many well wishers from Angus’ previous parish. With the support of Rural Dean Revd Canon Andrew Rowlands and all the Benefice churchwardens the occasion was not only a formal commission but also a service of warm welcome. Rarely has any church in the Benefice had such a packed and songful congregation.
Revd Angus Mayhew is of course ably complemented by his most charming and talented wife, Jules, who has already fired the enthusiasm of many in the Benefice with her love of life and people. We all look forward to Jules being a treasured participant in the community as well as the perfect partner to Angus in his ministry. Every member of the Benefice welcomes Angus and Jules and looks forward to a new chapter in our long and distinguished worship history.
